Lahore: Court extends Hamesh remand
LAHORE: As reported by The News on Saturday, physical remand of Hamesh Khan, previous president of the Bank of Punjab and a prime accused in Rs nine billion scam, was stretched till June 9 by an accountability court.
The NAB officials produced manacled Hamesh along with Sheikh M Afzal (co-accused in the BoP scam) before the court. NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Bashir Ahmed tried 14 days remand from the court but after hearing the argument of Hameshís counsel, the court granted 11 days physical remand and directed the NAB authorities to produce him again in the court on June 9.
The NAB Deputy Director has accused Hamesh of misuse of power and sanctioning illegal loans of worth Rs 9 billion to Sheikh Afzal, the Chief Executive of Haris Steel Mills on fake identity cards.
