Karachi: Rs5mn looted in 2 bank robberies
KARACHI: Bank robbers were on a rampage Monday, looting two branches of the Allied Bank Limited located in Kareemabad and Tauheed Commercial of Rs5 million, the Express Tribune reported Tuesday. In the first incident took place in Tauheed Commercial Branch, the dacoits looted Rs3 million and escaped within the span of only 15 minutes. Police claimed that the security guard of the bank, Mumtaz r/o Chakwal, was involved in the robbery as he switched off all the CCTV cameras in the bank and went missing after the robbery. The Police have registered an FIR No 150/10.
In the other robbery incident, at least three dacoits deprived the Kareemabad, Gulberg branch of the Allied Bank of Rs2 million within three minutes. “They entered at 4:32 pm and left at 4:35 pm with the money,” said branch manager, Muhammad Asif.
The video footage received through CCTV cameras show three men – two wearing trousers and button-down shirts and the third one in shalwar kameez.
