Peshawar: Rs 800m smuggled vehicles, goods clutched
PESHAWAR: As reported by the Pakistan Observer, since the activation of mobile squads (October 2009) the Customs Anti-Smuggling Division Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan’s customs had clutched smuggled goods and vehicles worth more than 800 million that is Rs. 620 million more than of the corresponding period of last year, said Arbab Qaiser Hamid, Deputy Collector Customs Anti-Smuggling Division Peshawar.
The major items and goods took over including about 110M tons of scrap and auto parts, tyres valuing Rs. 32 million, 130M tons of poppy seeds, cigarettes, motor oils, electric goods worth more than Rs. 25 million and 74 units of non-duty paid vehicles valuing about Rs. 80 million, yard of cloth (1.3 million), tea (60,000 kg), ghee (12,000 kg), the official said.
