Lahore: 29 forged degrees submitted by MPs
LAHORE: As reported by the Express Trubune, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has declared that the academic degrees of at least 29 parliamentarians are phony. An adviser, Mehmood Raza, of the HEC, told a news conference on Tuesday that 936 degrees were received by HEC, out of which 511 degrees have been verified and 29 degrees have been found invalid. The commission will present its full report on July 16 to the standing committee of National Assembly on education.
Javed Leghari, HEC Chairperson, who was appointed in August 2009 by Prime Minister, may resign from his post due to rising differences with the ruling over the verification of degrees, which was ordered by the Supreme Court.
