KARACHI: The Express Tribune reported on Monday that during the last 17 hours, 11 people have been killed in a fresh wave of target killings in different areas of Karachi. Police say four people were killed in Malir, Korangi, North Nazimabad and New Karachi areas. Unidentified gunmen killed two political workers in Korangi Dhai Number and Yousuf Plaza areas. In another incident a religious party worker and three other people were killed in Nazimabad and New Karachi areas respectively. Police have started patrolling the city and tightened security after the fresh incidents. Karachi has been reeling from a spate of violence for months and several measures to improve the law and order situation have so far proved futile. The spate of target killings are adding to the deteriorating sense of security in the metropolis.
