Karachi: Former DSP murder case charge-sheet filed
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, While accepting a charge-sheet against an arrested suspect, a judicial magistrate on Monday issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of his four absconding accomplices for their alleged involvement in the murder case of a former deputy superintendent of police. The arrested suspect — Syed Abu Irfan alias Urfee — was booked and arrested for allegedly killing the retired DSP, Rahim Khan Bangash, in 2008. The investigation officer submitted a charge-sheet in which he stated that during interrogation the suspect had disclosed that on the instruction of one Ishtiaq, he along with other accomplices killed the retired DSP. The charge-sheet said that two witnesses had rightly identified the suspect before a judicial magistrate during the identification parade and assigned his role in the commissioning of the offence. The IO placed 14 prosecution witnesses in the charge-sheet and shown four men — Faisal, Ishtiaq, Farhan alias Kala and Sajid alias Sufi — as absconders. Judicial Magistrate (south) Sadruddin Bohyo issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of the absconders till Sept 25 and sent the case to the district and sessions court for further trial. According to the prosecution, the former DSP was gunned down on Dec 24, 2008 on I.I. Chundrigar Road. The police arrested the suspect on Aug 25 in another case and during interrogation he disclosed that he along with his accomplices was also involved in this case, it added. A case (FIR 517/2008) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Mithadar police station.
