Frictions, shelling kill 13 in Kurram
PARACHINAR: According to the Dawn News on Tuesday, at least 13 people were killed and 17 wounded when helicopter gunships pounded militant hideouts and two tribal groups exchanged fire in parts of Kurram Agency on Monday. Local and official sources said that helicopter gunships targeted militants’ hideouts in Spairket area, killing eight suspects and leaving seven others injured. Three hideouts were destroyed, they said. In Shelozan and Shelozan Tangi areas, clashes between Bangash and Mangal tribes continued. Both sides used heavy weapons against each other. Five people were killed and 10 others injured. The clashes erupted a fortnight ago over a dispute on irrigation water. Troops fired artillery shells on suspected positions. Four people were injured in different areas in shelling.
