Karachi: 5 more people succumb to target killing
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Friday, five people were killed in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Thursday. A young man was shot dead and his young brother wounded by armed bandits inside his house in Orangi Town when he attempted to put up resistance, police said. They said at least three armed men broke into the house of Mohammad Ali in Gulshan-e-Zia when his 24-year-old son, Ansar Ali, spotted them and shouted to attract his family’s attention. While his father and younger brother, Azhar Ali, rushed out of their rooms, the bandits opened fire on Ansar and then on his brother. “The bullets hit Ansar in the chest and Azhar in a leg,” said an official at the Pakistan Bazaar Police Station. The police later registered an FIR (571/2010) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unknown suspects on the complaint of the victims’ father. In Bin Qasim, a 55-year-old security guard was killed when the gun of his colleague allegedly went off accidentally. Police said that the guard, Abdul Jabbar, had been taken into custody and was being questioned. A young man was found shot dead on the Azimpura embankment of the Malir River, police said. “The victim, clad in blue trouser and white shirt, was spotted dead by area people,” said an official at the Sharafi Goth police station. A custom agent was shot dead outside the Customs Office on Thursday night, officials said. They said Sadaruddin in his early 50s was attacked by an armed man, shortly after he left the Customs House to get in his parked car. In Hijrat Colony, a young man wanted in a murder case in Peshawar was gunned down outside his friend’s residence within the remit of the Artillery Maidan Police Station. The police said that the 25-year-old resident of Sultanabad, Ali Akbar Afridi, was heading to his friend’s home in Hijrat Colony when he was shot dead. The attacker fired about six bullets and ran away. “Afridi sustained a single bullet in the forehead and died on the spot. Two passersby, Amir and Rafiq, were also wounded in the firing. They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for the treatment.
