LANDI KOTAL: According to the Dawn News on Friday, three people were killed in terrorist attacks on Nato oil tankers in Landi Kotal and Torkham areas on Thursday. The first incident took place on the main Peshawar-Landi Kotal road in Zakhakhel where two oil tankers caught fire when an explosive device believed to have been placed in one of the vehicles went off. The fire also engulfed a trailer laden with cement, two vehicles and four kiosks. The tanker driver and his helper died of burns. A passer-by was also killed. Later, seven oil tankers and three other vehicles were destroyed in two successive blasts near the Torkham border. A house located near the site of the blasts was partially damaged. A local militant organisation, Abdullah Aizam Brigade, claimed responsibility for the attacks. Source said the organisation had earlier warned transporters with dire consequences if they did not stop supply to Nato forces in Afghanistan. Local administration official Shafeerullah Khan conforming the attacks said: “A bomb planted underneath an oil tanker exploded while it was on the move in a market in Landi Kotal town of Khyber turning the vehicle into a ball of flame, which also engulfed four nearby vehicles and killed two people.”
