Karachi: Teenager charged in kidnap-rape-murder case
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Sunday, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday indicted a teenaged suspect in a case pertaining to the kidnap, rape and murder of a five-year-old girl. The suspect has been charged with abducting his minor cousin in July within the remit of the Clifton police station and subjecting the captive to sexual assault before killing her. The judge, Syed Hasan Shah Bukhari of ATC-I, who is conducting the trial, read out all the charges against the suspect. However, the suspect pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the case to which the court summoned the prosecution witnesses directing them to record their testimonies on next hearing. According to the prosecution, the suspect had kidnapped the five-year-old girl on July 17 from her home, subjected her to rape and dumped the body in a football ground being used as a garbage dump in Upper Gizri after killing her. The police took the suspect into custody on July 19, and during initial interrogation he confessed to his crime, it added. A case (FIR 184/2010) was lodged under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 364-A (kidnapping a person under the age of ten) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act on the complaint of the victim girl’s grandfather at the Clifton police station.
