LAYYAH: According to the Dawn News on Sunday, a judicial inquiry has held responsible three police officials for the killing of a citizen of Chowk Azam. Reports said Muhammad Imitiaz alias Waliya of Ward No 10 was wanted in three criminal cases by the Chowk Azam police. On Sept 7, a police team headed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Sharif Malana along with constables Muhammad Akran, Khuda Bakhsh, Muhammad Mairaj, Amir Irshad, Zahur Bakhsh, Muhammad Zaman and Asad Javed raided the house of Muhammad Waheed in Ward No 6. The SI said as “we entered the house we heard a gunshot fire and found Imtiaz bleeding in a room. We rushed him to RHC at Chowk Azam, but he succumbed to his injuries”, he said. SHO Rab Nawaz said Imtiaz had committed suicide and the police had registered a case against him under Section 325 of the PPC. The initial post-mortem report, however, contradicted the police version. The district and sessions judge, on the request of DPO Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem to hold a judicial inquiry, appointed area magistrate Muhammad Jawad Alam Qureshi as an inquiry officer. The court observed that “in accordance with the record and as per his finding SI Sharif and constables Khuda Bakhsh and Muhammad Mairaj had entered Waheed’s house and were responsible for the murder of Imtiaz.” The judicial officer said a criminal case under the relevant provisions of law be registered against the three policemen. Later, the Chowk Azam police have arrested the three accused policemen and registered a murder case against them.
