Sukkur: Police catch 3 in Watan Card scam
SUKKUR: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, a police official, a Nadra employee and another person were arrested when they tried to obtain a Watan Card on a bogus form in Rohri on Sunday. A man named Ali Sher came to Nadra’s registration centre in Government High School with a registration form to get the card. The form had been verified by an employee of Nadra, Mohammad Ali Chohan. When the form was submitted at the Nadra centre, its in-charge Tahir Janjua found it suspicious and called police who arrested Ali Sher, ASI Sattar Chohan and Mohammad Ali. They were taken to the Rohri police station but no case was registered. Nadra’s manager operations, Sukkur, Shafiq Arain, said that forms for Watan Card had been printed in Urdu but Ali Sher’s form was in Sindhi. He said the case was being investigated. According to informed sources, a gang comprising Nadra employees, policemen and agents was providing fake forms to flood-affected people for Rs3,000 each. They said police seized 10 such forms and Rs16,000 cash from the arrested people.
