Bara: TTP leader’s father killed, along 15 militants
BARA: According to The News, father of Tariq Afridi, chief of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chapters in Khyber Agency and Darra Adam Khel, was killed in shelling by the military gunship helicopters in Upper Orakzai Agency about four weeks ago, family sources told The News here Monday. The sources said 50-year-old Habib Khan, father of Tariq Afridi, was killed along with 15 militants somewhere in upper Orakzai near Kurram Agency. A TTP commander belonging to Bostikhel tribe in Darra Adam Khel, whose name could not be identified, was also among the dead. The deceased and TTP commander were buried in the same place in Orakzai Agency as they and their family members were wanted by the security forces but fateha for Habib Khan was held in his village Mazidkhel, Darra Adam Khel, at his relatives’ house. The house of the deceased had been destroyed by the forces, the sources said. “The female members of our family went to Mazidkhel area in the first week of September to offer condolences to the two sisters and mother of the Tariq Afridi over the demise of Habib Khan,” said a relative of Tariq Afridi on condition of anonymity. The deceased left behind two sons, two daughters and a widow. Habib Khan came to Pakistan from Dubai about 18 months back where he had been doing a job in a private company as a driver. The sources said that soon after he returned to Pakistan he was forced by his elder son Tariq Afridi to stay and live with him in Orakzai Agency. Naeem, younger brother of Tariq Afridi, was meanwhile leading the TTP in different areas of FR Peshawar before the recent operation against the militants, the sources said.
