Haripur: Abducted lawyer’s body found in Tarbela lake
HARIPUR: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, the local police recovered here on Sunday the mutilated body of the lawyer who was kidnapped from the jurisdiction of city police station about a month back. The alleged kidnappers shot him dead and threw his body in the Tarbela Dam Lake despite receiving some of the ransom amount, police and family sources said. Yawar Salim, 45, son of Muhammad Salim, a local landlord and a non-practicing advocate of village Sikandarpur, was kidnapped by unknown persons when he was on his way back home from his orchards at around 5pm on Aug 24. His family was reportedly contacted by Salim’s abductors demanding Rs20 million as ransom for his release. The family reportedly paid a sum of Rs3.6 million on Sept 7. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Muhammad Hussain has said that he had identified a notorious gang of criminals involved in a number of kidnapping for ransom cases.
