Lahore: Babar Awan in bogus cheque case
LAHORE: As reported by The News on Tuesday, the Lahore High Court on Monday sought a reply from the federal secretary law in a petition against Law Minister Babar Awan for giving a bogus cheque of Rs30 million to a district bar. The petition was filed by President District Bar Hafizabad Khalid Tehami through his counsel Mushtaq Ahmed Mohal, advocate. The counsel for the petitioner contended that Law Minister Babar Awan gave a cheque for Rs30 million to the bar in May 2010, however, when the bar tried to cash the cheque, it was found to be bogus. The petitioner said a few days after giving the cheque to the bar, the law minister got annoyed and he passed directions to the finance ministry to stop the payment of Rs30 million to the bar.
