Lahore: Court dismisses Azam Hoti’s plea against conviction
LAHORE: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Monday dismissed for non-prosecution an appeal of former federal minister Azam Khan Hoti against his conviction by an accountability court in a reference of illegal assets. An accountability court in Attock in 2003 had convicted Azam Hoti for accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court had also imposed on him a fine of Rs15 million. He had obtained bail from the high court and filed an appeal against his conviction. The chief justice dismissed his appeal as nobody was appearing on his behalf for many dates of hearing.
