Lahore: Qayyum Jatoi faces contempt case
LAHORE: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, the Supreme Court has been moved with a constitutional petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against former defence production minister Abdul Qayyum Jatoi for uttering derogatory remarks against Pakistan Army and the judiciary. Petitioner Advocate Muhammad Safdar Shaheen Pirzada also seeks action against the former minister under Article 6 of the Constitution for ‘committing high treason’ and his disqualification as member of the National Assembly under Article 62. Pirzada contended that the press conference held by the minister, wherein he made the alleged remarks against the two state institutions, was a part of the federal government policy. The petition was filed at the Lahore Registry of the apex court.
