Rawalpindi: Man gets death penalty for killing relatives
RAWALPINDI: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, an additional district and sessions judge here on Tuesday handed down death sentence to a man for killing his relative over a petty issue some four years back. Judge Sajjad Hussain Sindhar also directed the convict, Mehtab Khan, to pay Rs200,000 compensation to the legal heirs of Mehr Khan. Mazhar Iqbal reported to the Chontra police on January 1, 2006, that he accompanied his cousin Mehr Khan to the Taxila cattle market in search of the latter’s stolen cow and found Mehtab along with Ghufran holding the animal for sale. Mehtab returned the cow and sought pardon from Mehr and the four set off to their village Saroba. While returning home, Mehtab shot Mehr dead on the motorway and escaped along with Ghufran.
