Lahore: Man awarded death for police officer’s murder
LAHORE: As reported by The News on Friday, an additional district and sessions court on Thursday awarded death sentence to a man for murdering a police department employee in 2005. The court ordered the convict, Muhammad Akbar, to pay Rs 100,000 as compensation to the victimís family. The court has awarded 10 years jail term each to four co-accused, namely Muhammad Yousaf, Muhammad Anwar, Shahbaz and Asif. It also imposed fine of Rs. 10,000 on the each convict. In this case Javeed, Aslam, Hadayat Ali and Shahzad were also nominated but the court released them by giving a benefit of doubt.
According to case details, the convicts had murdered police employee Hameed and had severely injured Muhammad Siddique and Parvez in 2005 over a minor dispute. Hadiara Police had registered a criminal case against them.
