10 traders copped for occupying flat in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: According to the Dawn News on Saturday, the capital Police on Friday arrested two office-bearers and eight members of F-10 Markaz Traders Union on the charge of reoccupying a flat which was got vacated on the directive of the court of law. Police said the traders union’s president Mian Maqbool and general secretary Khalid Khattak along with eight members were arrested and put behind bars at the Shalimar Police station. The Police said Col (retired) Abdur Rehman Khan rented his flat located on the first floor of Margalla View, F-10 Markaz, to Sardar Ejaz and the latter set up a property office there. However, both the parties entered into a dispute over its vacation.
The owner approached the district and sessions court Islamabad to get the possession of his property, Police said, adding after four year-long litigation the verdict came in favour of the owner. A bailiff appointed by the court along with the local Police reached the flat on Thursday and got it vacated from the tenant and gave its possession to the owner. The Police said the owner shifted his goods from the flat and left the flat. However, the traders union broke into the flat and reoccupied it for the tenant, Police said, adding the traders also allegedly took away some items belonging to the owner.
On the complaint of the owner, the Shalimar Police registered a case against the traders. On Friday, the traders attacked the owner when he came over to the flat. The Police reached the spot and arrested the 10 persons while some others escaped. Later, the arrested persons were shifted to the Shalimar Police station. They would be produced before the court of law seeking their custody on remand, the Police added.
