Karachi: 2 killed, 1 injured in firing
Karachi: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, Two people, including a government servant, were killed and one wounded when armed suspects opened fire at their car within the remit of the Sachal police station near Safora intersection early on Sunday, police said. Station house officer of the Sachal police station Asif Jakharani said that Feroz Ahmed Bhutto, an employee in the ministry of tourism, had returned from Shaikarpur by a bus after attending a funeral. Feroz called his younger brother Waqar to pick him up from the terminus when the bus crossed the Toll Plaza, the police officer said. Subsequently, Waqar with his friend Nadir reached the terminus at Sohrab Goth to pick up Feroz. When they were heading back to their home and crossed the Madras Bakery, they saw two motorcyclists who were kick starting their motorcycle. When the car came close to them the motorcyclists signalled it to stop, however, instead of stopping, Waqar who was driving the car tried to speed away. The suspects fired several shots at the car, the police officer added. However, Waqar did not stop the car and drove it to the Aga Khan Hospital, he said. Feroz and Nadir were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital while Waqar was provided treatment, police said. The suspects managed to escape as the police did not have a clue about them. Area residents said that several similar incidents of armed robberies had taken place in the same area.
