Karachi: Political activist killed in Orangi
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Saturday, an activist of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was gunned down outside his home in Orangi Town in the early hours of Friday, police said.
They said that Noor-ul-Haq, in his mid 50s, was sitting outside his home in Sector 9 of Orangi Town with his friends when two men on a motorbike came and one of them took out a 9mm pistol and fired multiple shots at him.
“The firing caused panic as people sitting around ran for safety and returned to find the victim in a pool of blood. He died on the spot,” the police officer said.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where doctors said that the man had been hit by three bullets in the chest and the head.
“The victim was a political activist but also had a land dispute with some people who already had a brief exchange of hot words with him a few days ago,” said the official at the Orangi Town police station.
