Kohat: Police arrest 74 malefactors
KOHAT: As reported by the Dawn News on Monday, in a daylong search operation in various parts of Kohat division on Sunday, police arrested 74 anti-social elements, most of them proclaimed offenders, and recovered drugs and arms from their possession. The bomb disposal squad also defused a five kilogramme explosive device planted by terrorists at a hotel of a local political leader in Hangu bazaar. Police media cell reported here that in a joint operation the Kohat and Hangu police arrested 74 criminals, most of them proclaimed offenders who were wanted in murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for ransom cases. According to a press release, 44 anti-social elements were held in Kohat operation conducted along the tribal belt in villages of Ghorazai, Kamar, Ziarat Sheikh Allahdad, Taulanj, Gandiali, Bazidkhel, Ghulam Banda, Togh, Ghamkol and Ublan camps and Mian Garhi. The seizure included five kalashnikovs, four repeaters, 12 shotguns, nine rifles, 14 pistols and 16 kilograms of hashish. Hangu DPO Abdur Rasheed Khan said that the operation against criminals would continue to ensure peace in the region. The police and anti-terrorist squad also seized nine Kalashnikovs, 14 rifles, 12 pistols, six kilograms of hashish and hundreds of cartridges from the accused who were arrested from Thall, Doaba, Darsamand, Mamokhwara, Samana and Hangu city. The police said that the extremists had planted a bomb at the first floor of a hotel owned by the Orakzai tehsil president of Awami National Party. The terrorist had converted a ghee tin into a bomb, which was defused by the bomb disposal squad.
