Okara: Daughters’ killer father held
OKARA: According to the Dawn News, police have arrested the man who had thrown his two minor daughters in the Lower Bari Doab Canal (LBDC) on Friday. District Police Officer Muhammad Azeem Arshad told journalists on Sunday that Muhammad Shafi Rehmani, a labourer of Renala Khurd, had committed the callous act after becoming frustrated because of abject poverty. Giving details, the DPO said that on Friday afternoon Rahmani, along with his wife Asia and daughters — Jamila (4) and Saima (2) — went to the banks of LBDC where he suddenly threw the girls in the canal. After committing the crime he fled the scene. The DPO said the couple had frequent quarrels over financial issues. He said the police have registered a case after arresting the culprit. Meanwhile, a search was on for the bodies of the girls.
