Mirpurkhas: Dealer issued notice for corruption
MIRPURKHAS: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, the Special Magistrate and DDO (revenue) Ammara Aamir Khattak has issued notice to a wholesale sugar dealer asking him to submit detail of stock of subsidised sugar after finding 175 subsidised sugar bags missing.
The government had announced a package for providing subsidised sugar to general public during Ramazan but the package was announced belatedly. Six local wholesale sugar dealers had brought 1,800 bags of 50kg of subsidised sugar from Karachi through official process at the rate of Rs56 per kg before Eidul Fitr which were to be sold at subsidised rate of Rs61 per kg in the city and other areas of the district through fair price shops.
The sugar dealers including Imran, Jamal Din, Tahir Jamal, Mohammad Shakeel, Haji Younus and Aneesur Rehman Shaikh had 300 bags each. Sources said that the district government had obtained permission from the Sindh government to start distribution of subsidised sugar after Eidul Fitr and recently the DDO launched distribution process of subsidised sugar to people at Rs61 per kg and made it binding on the dealers to supply subsidised sugar at fair price shops daily.
The DDO told Dawn News that she observed during monitoring of the shops that 175 bags were not supplied by a dealer, Aneesur Rehman Shaikh, and issued him a notice asking him to provide complete details of sugar stock immediately. If he was found guilty legal action would be taken in this regard, she said.
