Karachi: ATC jails target killer
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, the administrative judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) in Karachi on Tuesday sent a suspect on judicial remand in two cases pertaining to the killing of an inspector and a deputy superintendent of police directed the investigation officers to file charge-sheets within the next three days.
The crime investigation department of police had arrested Ishtiaq alias policewala on Sept 21 from New Karachi for his alleged involvement in the killing of DSP Nawaz Ranjha – who investigated the Karsaz bomb attacks on Benazir Bhutto’s homecoming procession – and Inspector Nasir-ul-Hasan who was known for the active role he had played in the Karachi Operation.
When the suspect was produced in court on Tuesday, Justice Maqbool Baqar, the administrative judge of ATCs, directed the investigation officers in both cases to submit charge-sheets by Oct 8 and remanded the suspect in jail custody.
Suspect Syed Abu Irfan alias Urfee is already in jail custody in this case, while Faisal, Noman, Danish, Shafiq and Rafey are the absconding accused.
