Karachi: Religious teacher shot dead
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, a teacher of the Jamia Binoria Al Almia was shot dead in Site area on Tuesday night.
Police said 50-year-old Maulana Mohammad Amin was going to visit his relatives when at least four attackers fired from the front and rear at the jeep he was driving.
“We have found cases of spent bullets fired from different directions,” Karachi West DIG Sultan Khawaja said. “It’s not yet clear, but it is presumed that the attackers on two motorbikes fired at him and he died on the spot after sustaining six bullet wounds.”
According to police, Maulana Amin was once associated with the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan as its divisional chief in Karachi. He quit the party after it was banned and entered the teaching profession. He had been a member of the faculty as Jamia Binoria Al Almia for the past several years.
His body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where a large number of students, friends and colleagues gathered. The victim lived in a housing facility in the university.
Police did not find any immediate reasons behind the killing and saw the incident as part of growing violence on sectarian grounds.
