Karachi: Suspects escape City Courts
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News On Wednesday, three policemen facing the allegation of keeping a man and his female cousin in illegally detention fled the city courts to escape arrest soon after their application for pre-arrest bail was dismissed by a judge on Tuesday. Assistant sub-inspector Ghulam Rasool and constables Sikandar Ali and Hadi Bux had filed applications for their pre-arrest bail in the court of additional district and sessions judge (south) Jangu Khan.
They were suspected to have kept a man, Zahid Hussain, and his female cousin in wrongful confinement at the Shirin Jinnah Colony police post after picking up them from a locality falling within the remit of the Clifton police station on Sept 27. The court had granted the suspects an interim bail and ordered them to appear in the court on Tuesday for confirmation of their bail. They appeared before the judge and after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence, the judge dismissed their pre-arrest bail pleas.
However, all the three suspects escaped from the court premises without facing any resistance by the police personnel present there. According to the prosecution, complainant in the case along with his cousin was unlawfully detained at police post and released only on payment of bribe.
