Karachi: Extortionist caught red-handed
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) with the assistance of police arrested a man allegedly involved in extorting money in the Garden area, said a handout issued on Wednesday.
“The CPLC received a complaint from a businessman, Muhammad Suleman, that he was receiving phone calls from an unidentified caller who was demanding Rs500,000,” said the statement.
“The amount was later negotiated and settled at Rs50,000. The businessman was called to deliver the amount on Wednesday near a local hospital in Garden.”
A joint team of the CPLC and the Nabi Bux police arrested the suspect when the payment was being made.
“The accused has been identified as Sajid Hussain, a resident of Neelam Colony in Clifton. He originally hails from Lodhran, Punjab,” added the statement.
