Karachi: Kids’ brawl ends in father’s death
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, a 37-year-old father of five was killed over a minor dispute that developed over a brawl between his and his neighbours’ children in Gadap on Wednesday, police said.
They said the incident took place in Saif-ul-Marri Goth within the remit of the Surjani Town Police Station, where children of Meeran Bux Marri and Muhammad Chakar Khan Brohi got engaged in a brawl while playing outside their homes.
“The situation attracted elders of the families, who initially exchanged hot words and held each other’s children responsible for the dispute,” said Sub-Inspector Yar Muhammad Khan Rind, SHO of the Surjani Town Police Station.
“The situation turned ugly when Meeran Bux Marri took out a pistol and fired shots at Muhammad Chakar Khan Brohi.”
He escaped after the firing, leaving Brohi in a pool of blood, the police officer said.
The wounded was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment.
“The two sides already had some dispute and the recent incident involving the children flared it up further that resulted in the tragedy,” said Sub-Inspector Rind.
The police later registered an FIR (697/2010) under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against Meeran Bux Marri on the complaint of the victim’s nephew Abdul Karim Brohi.
