Rawalpindi: 2,000kg meat of dead animals clutched, destroyed
RAWALPINDI: According to the Dawn News on Thursday, Sihala Slaughter House officials along with health department and local police on Wednesday afternoon seized 2,000kg meat of dead animals brought from Bhalwal and lodged cases against two butchers.
Talking to newsmen, Food Inspector Rana Ghulam Murtaza said that following a tip-off, the team along with local Police raided a house in Gorakhpur near Adiala Jail where two butchers had stored the meat in underground tanks supplying them to city markets.
A veterinary doctor also checked the meat and declared it unfit for human consumption. Later, the officials destroyed the dead animals’ meat.
He said that a butcher, Abdul Rehman, was arrested by Adiala Police Check post of Saddar Bairuni Police. However, another butcher, Haji Faisal, managed to escape.
He said that cases had been registered against the butchers under section 269, 270 & 278 of CRPC and Local Government Ordinance 2001 section 141 (17 & 18) for supplying dead animals’ meat and storing in unhygienic condition.
