Karachi: Court orders inquiry against 2 cops
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Saturday, a Session Court on Friday directed a senior police official to hold a departmental inquiry against two policemen for not conducting proper investigations into a robbery case.
District and Sessions Judge (Malir) Syed Kusar Ali Bukhari ordered the East Zone DIG (Investigation) to take action against Station Investigation Officer (SIO) Ateeq-ur-Rahman and Assistant Sub-Inspector Kheto Mal of the Shah Latif Police Station under Section 155 (penalty for certain types of misconduct by police officers) of the Police Order, 2002.
Mohammad Aslam filed an application in court and sought a legal action against the two policemen.
The applicant stated that his house was robbed on March 25, 2010 and he lodged an FIR (245/10) under Section 392 (robbery), 395 and 34 (common intentions) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Shah Latif Police Station.
He stated that the investigation was assigned to ASI Kheto Mal, but he neither conducted any investigation nor made any attempt to arrest the criminals.
He said then he approached a court of law, which transferred the investigation of the case to SIO Rahman with the direction to hold a fair probe, but he failed to comply with the court’s directive.
