270 Lahoriites looted last week
LAHORE: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, robbers deprived over 270 citizens of cash, valuables, gold ornaments, cell phones, cars and motorcycles worth millions of rupees in various incidents during the last week.
The outlaws also exposed the tall claims of the police about the protection of citizen, injuring seven people, including two policemen, on offering resistance in separate dacoity bids.
Out of the total reported incidents in six divisions of the Lahore police, around 48 motorcycles and 38 cars were snatched or lifted from different police precincts of the provincial metropolis in the last week.
Miscreants and terrorists keep on testing the capacity of the police by challenging the writ of the government and creating law and order, but, unfortunately, the police have yet to learn lessons from the shocking incidents of bomb blasts, terrorist attacks, and other such incidents.
During the last week, some criminals planted a time bomb at the shrine of Baba Jamil Shah in Shahdara Town police area, leaving three people injured. The bomb exploded at a time when a large number of people were present at the shrine to attend the urs.
The Model Town division was on top during the last week in reporting incidents of crime against property. During 58 reported incidents of robbery, 11 motorcycles and 8 cars were also lifted or snatched. Robbers also shot injured two policemen in Kahna police limits on offering resistance and managed to escape after looting valuables from them.
A car was lifted from outside the house of Mohsin in Shadman near Rehmania Mosque a couple of days ago. He had bought the car after saving money for 10 years. No clue about the whereabouts of the car was found until Sunday, he added.
The City Police Division was on second number with 57 reported incidents of street crimes and house robberies, including the incidents of snatching or lifting of nine motorcycles and six cars.
Robbers also shot injured four people identified as Rafi Ullah, Haji Muneer, his son Javed and Idrees in Shahdra police limits on offering resistance in separate dacoity bids.
The Saddar division remained third on the crime list with 55 reported incidents, including the incidents of snatching or lifting of eight motorcycles and equal number of cars. Robbers shot injured a citizen, Mehmood, on offering resistance in City Raiwind area.
