Islamabad: SC orders for arrest of ex-AG’s killers
ISLAMABAD: As reported by The News on Tuesday, the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday adjourned hearing in the murder case of Sardar Khan, former Attorney General of Pakistan, till Oct 27, directing the Interior Secretary to arrest his killers within no time.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard a suo moto case, initiated in September on the failure of police in arresting the murderers of Sardar Khan.
Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry apprised the court that the police and the ministry were striving hard to arrest the killers.
An investigation team, headed by an SP, had already been dispatched to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The chief justice remarked that the Islamabad Police were not making serious efforts, “but the court will not compromise on this issue and will direct suspension of Inspector General Kalim Imam in case of failure in arresting the killers of Sardar Khan”.
The chief justice also directed the Interior Secretary to appoint competent inspector generals in all the provinces to control the crime ratio.
