Lahore: Police kick out passport agents
LAHORE: As reported by The Nation on Wednesday, the Passport officials and City police on Tuesday launched a joint crackdown around the premises of Passport and Nadra offices to throw out the agents who were minting money from the applicants.
Official sources said that City police and passport officials launched crackdown around the premises of National Data Base and Registration Authority (NADRA) and passport offices located at Abbot Road and kicked out the agents.
They further said that the police launched the crackdown on the request of Assistant Director Passport Office.
The passport officials ordered crackdown after they received an official letter from the Interior Ministry in which they were directed to take action against the agents.
All the agents were kicked out from Nadra and passport offices and their stalls were also removed, sources added.
Official said that the entire system of passport processing is computerised including the call number for the applicants and there is no role of the agents. Therefore, the applicants should not contact agents in this regard.
