Bomb disposal soldier injured in Ghalanai bomb blast
GHALANAI: As reported by The News on Thursday, a soldier sustained critical injuries when a bomb went off in Safi subdivision while three volunteers were killed in Tuesday’s firing by a militant were buried in their respective villages in Mohmand Agency on Wednesday, tribal sources said.
The sources said the security forces rushed to Ziarat Chowk to defuse a bomb after someone spotted the explosives device planted at a roadside. The bomb, the sources added, exploded before it could be defused, injuring a soldier severely. The injured soldier, whose identity could not be ascertained, was taken to hospital.
Three members of pro-government Khwezai Peace Committee, who had been killed by a militant, were laid to rest in their respective areas. Assistant Political Agent of Baizai subdivision Maqsood Khan visited the area and offered condolence to the bereaved families. He assured that the government would help victim families as their members sacrificed their lives for noble cause.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered 45 bags of fertilizers and two motorcycles during search operation from an abandoned house in Kamalkhel area of Safi tehsil. The forces took the fertilizers and bikes into custody, the sources said. Fertilizer is one of the components being used in making bombs and other explosive devices.
