Cocaine seized at Karachi port
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, tests carried out at two chemical laboratories have confirmed that 226kg of powder seized at Karachi port recently was cocaine.
Samples of the narcotics were sent to the Sindh government laboratory and Customs House lab in Karachi and both of them said the substance was cocaine.
Addressing a press conference, the Collector of Customs, Mr Fatah Mohammad Sheikh, said his department had received a tip-off that a huge quantity of narcotics would reach the port from a South American country in a consignment of plywood sheets.
He said the customs staff kept a strict vigil after receiving the report and on Sept 22 it seized the consignment.
