Islamabad: Fake army personnel held
ISLAMABAD: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, a man was arrested for impersonating a captain of army and defrauding scores of people.
The capital police and Military Intelligence (MI) were after the ‘captain’ for his alleged involvement in fraud cases.
On Wednesday, luck was not with him as his car collided with another vehicle in Blue Area. The accused, wearing commando trouser, introduced himself as Captain Arsalan Kashif and started abusing the driver and asked him to repair the damage. The driver of the other vehicle called police who arrived at the scene and sought his identification.
When he failed to do so, he was taken to Kohsar Police Station along with the driver of the other vehicle. On repeated questioning the accused said: “I had said I am a captain – captain of a cricket team not Pakistan Army,” the police quoted him as saying.
During interrogation he disclosed his real name as Abdul Haq Lassi from Lasbela.
The police approached MI and a woman, defrauded of Rs4 million by an impersonator, who identified the alleged fraudster.
