Sectarian killer held in Karachi
KARACHI: As reported by The News on Friday, personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Sindh, claimed to have arrested an activist of the banned Sipah-e-Mohammed (SM) involved in the killing of Sipah-e-Sahaba-Pakistan (SSP) activists reportedly in the city during recent past.
Moreover, police also recovered a hit-list from the possession of the held activist, and a TT pistol.
The SSP, CID, Mohammed Fayyaz Khan said that, information had been received that activists belonging to the banned SM were hiding in a house located near Ghani Chowrangi, SITE-B police limits.
They added that a police team of the CID conducted a raid and after resistance Syed Jawad Hussain Zaidi alias Jeedi, was arrested, with the recovery of a TT pistol, while his accomplices, Ibrar Zaidi, Pervez Ali Zaidi, Sikander Ali and Syed Ali Rizvi fled under the cover of fire.
SSP Khan said that the accused was moved to the investigating unit for interrogation.
The accused disclosed that he, along with his accomplice, had killed Ashraf Memon, owner of jewellery shop near the ZMC Office in Orangi Town. They had killed him because he funded the SSP.
It was further disclosed that they had killed Umer Mushtaq, a unit in-charge of the banned SSP in Baloch Colony area.
Besides, they had killed Dr Khursheed at his clinic in Sector-11 ž, Orangi Town, because he was also an activist of the banned SSP.
SSP Khan said that the police had also recovered a hit-list from the possession of Jeedi with several dignitaries and religious leaders’ names. Further probe is underway.
