Islamabad: 2 Azeris involved in human trafficking, sex trade copped
ISLAMABAD: According to the Dawn News on Sunday, in a letter to the capital police, the embassy of Azerbaijan has confirmed that its two nationals – brother and sister – arrested a couple of days back were involved in human trafficking and sex trade, sources told Dawn.
Margalla police station received the letter on Saturday from Anaraghayev, first secretary of Azerbaijan embassy.
In the letter the first secretary said the two accused — Zarifa Babayev and her brother Mirdamat Babayev – were involved in human trafficking, sex trade and drug pedaling for the last ten years. The source quoted the letter as saying that the two accused brought women from Azerbaijan and other Asian countries to Pakistan and forced them into prostitution.
The letter said the two were wanted by Interpol and the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan. It told the police that relevant documents against the accused would be submitted by Monday.
Mr Anaraghayev appeared in the court of city magistrate where the hearing of the bail petition of the Babayevs was heard. The diplomat recorded statement and informed the court that documents about the accused would be submitted soon. Putting off hearing on the request of police, the accused were given into police custody. The police arrested the Babayevs along with Shabnam, Elwa, Seelana, Ayesha and Mary on Friday.
