Sources said it was the responsibility of the CR Office to keep a check on such practices of housing societies and insure that money of innocent persons is not spoilt. They said the CR Office allegedly took care of interests of owners of these housing societies rather than that of citizens, who are the ultimate sufferers. At the moment, more than 75,000 affectees have lost hope that they will get the plots ever in these housing societies.
As per rules and regulations, housing societies have to make independent arrangements for water supply and an average water consumption per capita per day should be 100 gallons and during peak hours flow should be 200 gallon per person consumption and for non-residential area it should be 1000 gallons per acre per day.

They said the CR has become a millionaire. They appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry to take sou moto notice and conduct a judicial enquiry into the scam so that the officials involved are punished.
Senate Standing Committee for Interior Member Col (r) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said some parliamentarians have also invested in Aiwan-e-Sadar, National Assembly, Senate and other housing societies to get a plot but the real estate mafia did not hesitated from robbing them too. He said the fate of innocent and less influential citizens would have been far more worse.
Cooperative Housing Societies Circle Registrar (CR) Malik Din said that he had taken time-to-time notices about irregularities in housing societies and an enquiry against those using name of ministries and government departments is being carried out. However, when asked he failed to furnish any details of inquiries, yet, he said the culprits will be punished. He warned people should invest money carefully without showing any remorse for those who lost their life savings by these swindlers.
