Islamabad: Capital police halts 19 suspects in search operation
ISLAMABAD: As reported by The News on Monday, teams of Islamabad Police on Sunday arrested 19 suspects during a search operation in the area of Secretariat Police Station and recovered 2-kilogram chars, 276 bottles of liquor and two illicit pistols from their possession, a police spokesman said.
The search operation was conducted in Barri Imam by the police teams led by SP (City) Haroon Joyia while AC (Secretariat) Umer Asad, DSP (Secretariat) Liaquat Hayat Niazi, Station House Officer (Secretariat) Hakam Khan were the members of the team.
Bomb Disposal Squad, police commandos and lady police also participated in the operation.
Acting SSP Islamabad Mir Vais Niaz has said that the search operation would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive as well as suspected areas. He said that it is the prime responsibility of the police in present law and order situation to remain vigilant and every possible effort would be made to ensure peace in the city.
Meanwhile, Sabzi Mandi Police arrested one person during patrolling and recovered 1.20 kilograms chars from him.
