Karachi: School owner killed by unknown aides
KARACHI: As reported by the Dawn News on Tuesday, unidentified assailants shot dead the owner of a private school in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday evening in an apparent incident of sectarian killing, police said. They said that two armed men intercepted 40-year-old Awais Abbas Raza when he came out from his in-laws’ residence in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Block 4 in his Suzuki Hi-Roof.
Gulshan SSP Naeem Shaikh said that the armed men, clad in jeans and shirts, came towards the vehicle and fired two shots. “One shot hit the vehicle while the second bullet hit him in the back.” He said that he was rushed to the nearby Patel Hospital where he died during treatment.
The SSP said that the assailants snatched a motorcycle from the scene and escaped. Later, they left the two-wheeler abandoned near Disco Bakery and disappeared, he added. The police said that the victim also lived in Gulshan-i-Iqbal near the Baitul Mukarram mosque. He owned a private school in Surjani Town, they added.
They said that although the exact motive behind the killing could only be ascertained after thorough investigation, it could be an incident of sectarian killing.
