LAHORE: As reported by the Daily Times on Tuesday, as many as 240 Afghan nationals have been smuggled to Australia via Malaysia during the last six months.
The Australian government, through its high commission in Islamabad, has sent a letter to the government, alleging that a Pakistani of the Afghan origin was involved in the crime.
According to the letter, Ali Zafar succeeded in smuggling the Afghan nationals to Australia allegedly on fake documents after receiving $2,500 from each of them.
The documents attached with the letter show that the human trafficker had sent 28 Afghans on March 7; four on March 10; 50 on April 7; 25 on April 11; 66 on April 18; 19 on April 28 while 48 have reached Australia on June 3.
After receiving the letter, the federal government had directed the FIA, police and other LEAs to immediately find the alleged human trafficker.
