LAHORE: According to The News on, the Lahore High Court on Monday issued a notice to Punjab Information and Technology Minister Farooq Yousaf Ghurki on a civil miscellaneous application which pleaded the court to restrain the minister from working till the final outcome of a petition seeking his disqualification from the assembly.

The application was filed by Iftikhar Ahmad, on whose main petition the judge had already started ex-parte proceedings against the MPA for not appearing in the court despite repeated notices.

Yousaf Ghurki, a PPP MPA, who is currently holding portfolio of Ministry of Information and Technology, had contested election from PP-159, Lahore. Iftikhar Ahmed, a former Nazim UC-150 and a voter of PP-159, had moved the petition contending that Ghurki had presented a bogus BA degree to the election commission for contesting the election.
