Bara: Remote-controlled bomb kills 3 soldiers
BARA: As reported by The News on Thursday, three soldiers were killed and three others sustained injuries in a remote-controlled bomb explosion that targeted a convoy of the security forces in Sorghar area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency on Wednesday, official sources said.
The sources said that a convoy of security forces was on its way to Sorghar area from the Frontier Corps’ Fort Salop Camp when it was attacked by suspected militants with a remote-controlled explosive device.
The sources said that three soldiers were killed and three others injured in the blast. The sources said a vehicle of security forces was badly damaged in the explosion. The slain soldiers were identified as Arsalan, Muhammad Altaf and Rabnawaz. The injured soldiers included Inam and Gulbaz. The injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Peshawar.
The forces launched operation after the attack and destroyed two houses in the area. The operation was continuing till filing of this report. About 14 soldiers have been killed in remote-controlled bomb assaults in Sorghar area since the military launched operation against different groups of militants in Bara tehsil on September 1, 2009.
