Lahore: 14 years jail awarded to skull smasher
LAHORE: As reported by The News on Thursday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Jabbar Khan on Wednesday awarded 14-year jail term to a member of Pather Group namely Muhammad Amin on charges of killing a labourer by smashing his head while the victim was sleeping.
Court has awarded three years further jail term to Amin under PPC section 411 (dishonestly receiving or retaining any stolen property) as he was also accused of stealing a water pump from the place of incident.
The court has also fined the convict Rs 10,000. In case of default in payment of fine, he would undergo one month extra imprisonment. Both the punishments awarded to the criminal will run in a parallel row.
According to case details, on August 6, 2008, Muhammad Ashraf who was a manual worker was sleeping in an under construction building at Township when anonymous murderer, later identified as Amin, killed him by smashing his head with a brick.
Amin was arrested by Green Town police. During investigation, it was revealed that Amin was an active member of the Pather Group and was involved in many such brutal attacks on poor labourers sleeping in open areas. The Township police had registered a criminal case on the complaint of Shah Muhammad, elder brother of the deceased.
