Rawalpindi: Court declares ex-legislator’s nephew innocent
RAWALPINDI: As reported by the Dawn News on Wednesday, a court of law on Tuesday acquitted a man from the charges of taking examination in place of his uncle Haji Pervaiz Khan, former MNA of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), after prosecution failed to prove the case.
Judge Ashraf Gondal acquitted Bilal Javaid after the charges against him could not be proved by the prosecution. The accused has moved an application under section 249-A of criminal procedure code (power of magistrate to acquit at any time).
The prosecution presented nine different witnesses but they could not establish the fact that Bilal was arrested from the main examination hall of Government Gordon College for Boys.
The case of the accused was pleaded by Advocate Malik Waheed Anjum, President District Bar Association. Examination superintendent had complained to the city police that Bilal was found sitting in place of his uncle Haji Pervaiz on April 29 last year and was taking the paper of Pakistan Studies of higher secondary school certificate (HSSC).
The police booked the man under the charges of cheating and impersonation and the Lahore High Court Chief Justice also took the suo motu notice of the cheating incident widely reported by the media. The case had led to the resignation of Haji Pervaiz Khan on the demand of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership and fresh elections were held in NA-55 Rawalpindi.
