Rawalpindi: LHC dismisses petition of Habeas corpus
RAWALPINDI: As reported by the Dawn News on Thursday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a habeas corpus petition after a bailiff confirmed that 19 persons were not illegally detained in a brick kiln in Gujar Khan.
Justice Shahid Hameed Dar of the LHC’s Rawalpindi bench dismissed the petition filed by Mohammad Amir of Sargodha after his lawyer did not press for further proceedings. Earlier, court bailiff Hameed Ahmed conveyed to the court that he along with the area police raided the kiln of Mirza Shaukat in Gujar Khan and did not find anyone illegally detained.
The petitioner submitted before the court that some members of his family were being forced into bonded labour and were being kept under illegal detention and prayed to the court to get the persons released.
