Karachi: Doctors’ negligence kills man
KARACHI: As reported by the Daily Times on Saturday, a man died due to alleged negligence of doctors at a private hospital in North Karachi, the Sir Syed police said on Friday.
Muhammad Amir, 28, resident of Sector 11-G in New Karachi, left his house for work in the early hours. However, he experienced severe abdominal pains soon after and rushed to a nearby hospital.
After receiving emergency treatment, he managed to return home. However, he died a few minutes later. His family arrived at the hospital and started protesting, while some miscreants vandalised the hospital’s furniture.
The family claimed that Amir had died due to negligence of the doctors who had given him the wrong medicine. They hurled stones at the hospital as they protested outside the hospital premises. A relative of the deceased said Amir was going to get married in a month.
Hospital owner Tariq Qureshi said Amir had died due to natural causes. “We had given him only first aid to relieve him of pain,” he added. New Karachi Town Superintendent of Police Qamruz Zaman said the police would take action if the family registered a case against the hospital administration.
